un: jonas. cw: blood chatter.
ik this is going to sound like an episode of 60 Minutes that never got aired, but I have smelled worryingly like blood for the past week or so.
Please pre-emptively cool it on the wild guesses, though. God forbid any of this winds up vaguely sexual like Keith's thing (F, buddy). No, I haven't even been injured lately. No, it's not my time of the month. No, I'm not actually a murderer. I woke up one day, sniffed foul air, and have been increasingly ill since.
Does anyone have any idea what I can even do about this? bc I feel like I've tried literally everything but bathing in bleach.
Oh, actually, for ppl who don't want to interact with my TMI, what are your favourite movies? I work at the theatre in Mirth now and I'll get a 2% raise if I bring in more traffic, so I kinda have a vested interest in knowing what kinds of things you'd wanna see screened. Set can't pay for everything yk lol.
Thanks.

War documentaries, though, those are the best. The World at War is insanely good. ig I just find the world wars neat.
Like not neat as in "good" neat but as in "wow that's messed up" neat. It's kind of like a car crash you can't look away from. In general idk, I maybe would've joined the military back home if college didn't work out.

it's a real good way to detox
war movies aren't really a thing given the whole war thing
I wouldn't say there's trauma back home but that's probably the best way to put it........
but idk I think it's a good idea that you weren't able to join
I'd hate to see you have to fight

Wait does your earth not have war movies?? tbh sometimes ppl don't even go on tour when they're military bc they pick up special skills or just aren't needed. I don't want to shoot guns though which is a big negative.

at least not that I know of
we've got complicated feelings about war. especially the older generations
but I'm glad you didn't end up going that route
you're a good kid. I don't wanna think about a situation where you'd have to use a gun against someone

idk about good a lot of the time but I'm trying to be. p sure if I was passed a gun I'd start holding it like a dirty diaper though. Have you ever held/shot one??

I'm pretty sure I'd freak out too
I feel like there's way too many ways for that to turn out badly
plus they wouldn't really help in the work I do so no point

What do you do for work anyway?? Like ik you were detective-ing, but I don't think I heard about your job.

or your fists if that doesn't work!
[ HIBIKI?? ]
I'm kidding!
I'm a contractor with an agency that "helps spirits of all designations with their transition to their next phase of existence"
which is a lot of words to say that I help those departed still clinging to the living world cope with and eventually move on to the afterlife
basically a spirit social worker

I wish I was more shocked that that's your actual job. Like idk what me being like "oh okay" says about my life experiences so far, but woof. That's cool though, there should be more work like yours. Shockingly, the church has a monopoly on exorcisms or whatever.
Can I ask you a question about spirits or whatever? Is it hard to send them off or is it contextual ig like everyone has smth different they need done?

I've heard it can be. I've only been in this business for a short amount of time so I can't say for sure
but some of the stories you hear are absolutely heartbreaking. THOSE are the times that are really tough
not the gruesome or tragic deaths, but the understated ones where they know they need to go
where all you can do is reassure them that their loved ones will be taken care of

I'm glad it's rewarding in that sense. I think those kinds of jobs take a huge amount of empathy but also a huge amount of desensitization. Like nurses and doctors, ppl who see death a lot. I couldn't do it.
(the next question comes as a separate text.)
Have you run into any bad ghosts?
1/2, laughs in canon update in a couple months...
it's complicated for me. the more I dig, the more I realize my family's never been exactly normal
I guess that makes me well suited for the job?
idk once the shock factor wears off it feels pretty normal
2/2
no. but I've heard stories
I'm not totally convinced they're true but
they aren't for the faint of heart

(had to respond to that one because it's CRUCIAL)
You're really building the suspense here, I feel like I'm watching the intro narration for a scary movie. What kind of stories? Like hauntings and stuff?
