⟪ on your screen, waves in the background, high and lapping at the seawall that surrounds most of stygia, threatening to spill over. it’s a relatively common sight when colder weather settles; what isn’t is the woman in the foreground, cheeks round and full as she slowly exhales an abundance of concerns she clearly struggles to voice. ⟫
I’m… so sorry. Where do I even begin… ⟪ she shakes her head, visibly contrite. when she raises her hand, as if to shush an invisible companion, the tempest behind her seemingly subsides. ⟫ There’s been a terrible mistake. Many... mistakes. Some of you have been inadvertently imprisoned, and I’ve reached out to Amun in the hopes of rectifying the situation as soon as possible. There will be compensation for those of you who were wrongly mistreated. ⟪ her eyes, red-rimmed, flash vehement for a fraction of a second. ⟫ Mark my words.
⟪ whether it’s a promise to you or a threat to the hierarchy remains to be seen, though the apologetic glint in her gaze seems genuine. briefly she bows her head, fingertips to her lips as she coughs and clears her throat, a pink petal flitting in the breeze. ⟫ In the meantime, please know that our Healers are actively working to find a cure to the Harvest’s Curse. It’s not much, but don’t despair just yet. If your symptoms worsen, seek Rosuv in Mirth, and tell him Assana’s sent you. ⟪ her mouth stretches, a forlorn smile. ⟫ Stay strong.
⟪ and the feed cuts. ⟫
⟪ OOC | assana is the npc with blueish hair that you might have run into before! i’ve decided to breathe some more life into her and chose daenerys as her pb. she’s available for semi-regular cr (slower, probably) even tho she’s still an npc, but cr =/= privileges. assana obviously has knowledge that PCs do not possess, but we'll always ensure that all characters have access to the same opportunities.
if you do seek rosuv, you'll find him in a nightclub in mirth; he's a bartender. he’ll give you a bottle of warm oil that you can apply to your throat and chest, for free! it’ll help you breathe easier for a few hours, and has similar effects to cannabis.
you can now reach amun the elusiveassholeand ask him once question each! that's his deal for this month ⟫

I understand what you're trying to do, but how do you expect us to trust the word of someone who says they will help you in one breath then condemns them to suffer the next?
no subject
I wish there was more I could do, or even say
I do!
There are no words to justify any of this, and I certainly don't expect you to trust mine!
I can only promise you that I'll do what I can to pick up the pieces and mend fences
But not unlike you... I too have to watch my steps

amun receiving the same branding and jailtime seems fair
He IS the hierarchy right
[ eye for an eye and all that ]

Retribution does seem fair
But as rigid as Amun may be... I can't be sure whether he was entirely behind this

So the plot thickens. Do you think it's wise to make such bold promises with the Hierarchy staying ever vigilant?
As for this sudden plague, do you happen to know who placed this curse?
no subject
I can't be certain whether there's a "who" behind the curse
Some things regularly happen without reason around here
It's the... organic way of this world, if I may put it that way

I am glad one would speak for us. But you ought know, my lady, there is a sickness here, too, and there are so many of us new to this place, with barely a word to our names, if we can be convicted of crimes with no trial, what hope can there be for those of us unable to stand up for ourselves who take ill and need help?
audio
Please… before you say anything else, seek Rosuv. He can help. I know it isn’t much, and I know you’ve all been done a grave injustice, but it’s all I have. My voice. ⟪ she huffs, a faint chuckle. ⟫ Or what’s left of it, anyway. I can’t speak on behalf of the entire Hierarchy, but I’ll do what I can to repair the damage… and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Compensation. What sort of compensation can the dead expect, for this? You threw them in jail. Branded them, like errant cattle. Beat some of them, tortured some of them.
Not sure what difference a few shillings is going to make, in the face of that. Not sure we even want it.

I'm not the Hierarchy. Not exactly, and I know this is all going to sound like empty drivel to you but... Just know that whatever's in my power to do, I'll do it.

Rosuv in Mirth, however, is filed neatly away.]
Someone else mentioned the prisoner. The man who was freed said, "If it stings, then it must be working." There was also the emblem of the white scorpion found at the scene of the rider's murders. I doubt either are a coincidence. What do you know?
Additionally, I've been told of the disease currently plaguing Stygia and I want to hear from you whether it's true. An illness caused by affectionate feelings toward others? It's too ridiculous to believe.
[Says the man with eyes hardwired to his emotions.]
no subject
And you mean... the Harvest's curse, right?
It really does sound absurd, but... yes.
It's as real as it gets. The intricacies of the disease elude us, but some have linked it to... well. Affection, as you say!
