video | un: eurypterid [npc]
⟪ on your screen, waves in the background, high and lapping at the seawall that surrounds most of stygia, threatening to spill over. it’s a relatively common sight when colder weather settles; what isn’t is the woman in the foreground, cheeks round and full as she slowly exhales an abundance of concerns she clearly struggles to voice. ⟫
I’m… so sorry. Where do I even begin… ⟪ she shakes her head, visibly contrite. when she raises her hand, as if to shush an invisible companion, the tempest behind her seemingly subsides. ⟫ There’s been a terrible mistake. Many... mistakes. Some of you have been inadvertently imprisoned, and I’ve reached out to Amun in the hopes of rectifying the situation as soon as possible. There will be compensation for those of you who were wrongly mistreated. ⟪ her eyes, red-rimmed, flash vehement for a fraction of a second. ⟫ Mark my words.
⟪ whether it’s a promise to you or a threat to the hierarchy remains to be seen, though the apologetic glint in her gaze seems genuine. briefly she bows her head, fingertips to her lips as she coughs and clears her throat, a pink petal flitting in the breeze. ⟫ In the meantime, please know that our Healers are actively working to find a cure to the Harvest’s Curse. It’s not much, but don’t despair just yet. If your symptoms worsen, seek Rosuv in Mirth, and tell him Assana’s sent you. ⟪ her mouth stretches, a forlorn smile. ⟫ Stay strong.
⟪ and the feed cuts. ⟫
⟪ OOC | assana is the npc with blueish hair that you might have run into before! i’ve decided to breathe some more life into her and chose daenerys as her pb. she’s available for semi-regular cr (slower, probably) even tho she’s still an npc, but cr =/= privileges. assana obviously has knowledge that PCs do not possess, but we'll always ensure that all characters have access to the same opportunities.
if you do seek rosuv, you'll find him in a nightclub in mirth; he's a bartender. he’ll give you a bottle of warm oil that you can apply to your throat and chest, for free! it’ll help you breathe easier for a few hours, and has similar effects to cannabis.
you can now reach amun the elusiveassholeand ask him once question each! that's his deal for this month ⟫

I can't be certain whether there's a "who" behind the curse
Some things regularly happen without reason around here
It's the... organic way of this world, if I may put it that way
no subject
That's why I honestly doubt this just how things are but rather a result of something else. Maybe we accidentally harvested something we shouldn't? Such as a particular flower or grain? Something sacred by perchance?
no subject
What if all this time we believed everything happened out of nowhere
Just because!
When in reality, we've been the unwilling perpetrators all along
Food for thought!
no subject
That certainly could be the case here but I'm hesitant to place the blame on anyone. I'm just merely hypothesizing if anything.
[He has no proof there's a sacred grain or anything likened to that here but after venturing into the Oakwoods to meet "Puck", he's certain there's more to this story than what's being told.]
If you don't mind me asking, how many harvests have you witnessed or overseen?
no subject
Anyone or… anything
So much is happening all at once!
It’s really odd, I’ll give you that
I’ve witnessed 6 harvests and it’s the second time now that this curse’s afflicted us all
no subject
Another question if you will, has every harvest preluded with the arrival of newcomers?
no subject
I can't tell whether it's at all related, but if memory serves, I'm fairly sure we'd just welcomed an impressive bunch of newcomers!
no subject
Perhaps we should focus on the harvest results instead? Was this year's harvest as plentiful as years past? Or was it worse?
no subject
You sound like you have some experience in that field. Do you?
I do believe that each harvest is just as plentiful as the last, but now that you mention it... hmm. I should have paid closer attention!
That being said, if it helps at all... I didn't have to survive the last one. I wasn't afflicted.

[He's admittedly more of a demon summoner than a practicing warlock or witch. Even so, he still had to understand the basics regarding curses.]
Without concrete data, we won't be able to tell whether or not the bounty of the harvest is what drives the curse.
[He sure hopes someone has been keeping record on every harvest so far.]
You wasn't afflicted with this curse before? Well, that's interesting. I wonder what you did differently this year.
no subject
As for me, I can't really say. Some have called the curse "hanahaki", but I'm not familiar with the term.
no subject
Likewise. Coughing up flowers is something of an oddity even in my world.
no subject
Are you affected?
no subject
As much as I like flowers, I don’t like having them scratching at my throat.
no subject
I do appreciate a colorful bouquet, but... no.
Not quite like this.
no subject
I’ve been using my knowledge of flowers in hope of deciphering the meaning behind this sickness.

It's the same for you as well, isn't it? You have my gratitude for keeping us in the loop.
no subject
Or one of, anyway!
When this is all over, would you be willing to teach me some of your talents?
no subject
Let us hope this terrible malady passes soon. I've known many who've fallen ill as of late and the number only seems to rise.
