video | un: eurypterid [npc]

on your screen, waves in the background, high and lapping at the seawall that surrounds most of stygia, threatening to spill over. it’s a relatively common sight when colder weather settles; what isn’t is the woman in the foreground, cheeks round and full as she slowly exhales an abundance of concerns she clearly struggles to voice.

I’m… so sorry. Where do I even begin… she shakes her head, visibly contrite. when she raises her hand, as if to shush an invisible companion, the tempest behind her seemingly subsides. There’s been a terrible mistake. Many... mistakes. Some of you have been inadvertently imprisoned, and I’ve reached out to Amun in the hopes of rectifying the situation as soon as possible. There will be compensation for those of you who were wrongly mistreated. her eyes, red-rimmed, flash vehement for a fraction of a second. Mark my words.

whether it’s a promise to you or a threat to the hierarchy remains to be seen, though the apologetic glint in her gaze seems genuine. briefly she bows her head, fingertips to her lips as she coughs and clears her throat, a pink petal flitting in the breeze. In the meantime, please know that our Healers are actively working to find a cure to the Harvest’s Curse. It’s not much, but don’t despair just yet. If your symptoms worsen, seek Rosuv in Mirth, and tell him Assana’s sent you. her mouth stretches, a forlorn smile. Stay strong.

and the feed cuts.

OOC | assana is the npc with blueish hair that you might have run into before! i’ve decided to breathe some more life into her and chose daenerys as her pb. she’s available for semi-regular cr (slower, probably) even tho she’s still an npc, but cr =/= privileges. assana obviously has knowledge that PCs do not possess, but we'll always ensure that all characters have access to the same opportunities.

if you do seek rosuv, you'll find him in a nightclub in mirth; he's a bartender. he’ll give you a bottle of warm oil that you can apply to your throat and chest, for free! it’ll help you breathe easier for a few hours, and has similar effects to cannabis.

you can now reach amun the elusive asshole and ask him once question each! that's his deal for this month

From my experience, everything that exists has an origins of some sort. Whether it be a tangible one or not is left for debate.

That's why I honestly doubt this just how things are but rather a result of something else. Maybe we accidentally harvested something we shouldn't? Such as a particular flower or grain? Something sacred by perchance?

[That causes him to pause a little. It's hard to tell if she's being facetious or not, but he's willing to take this in good faith. For now.]

That certainly could be the case here but I'm hesitant to place the blame on anyone. I'm just merely hypothesizing if anything.

[He has no proof there's a sacred grain or anything likened to that here but after venturing into the Oakwoods to meet "Puck", he's certain there's more to this story than what's being told.]

If you don't mind me asking, how many harvests have you witnessed or overseen?

Six harvests and only two curses? Interesting statistics.

Another question if you will, has every harvest preluded with the arrival of newcomers?

Maybe there's no actual correlation between the numbers of newcomers and this Harvest Curse. Although, I do wonder why the number of new arrivals keeps rising but that's neither here or there.

Perhaps we should focus on the harvest results instead? Was this year's harvest as plentiful as years past? Or was it worse?

I'm an mage, an Umbran Mage to be exact. It's within my field of expertise even if curses aren't exactly my strongpoint.

[He's admittedly more of a demon summoner than a practicing warlock or witch. Even so, he still had to understand the basics regarding curses.]

Without concrete data, we won't be able to tell whether or not the bounty of the harvest is what drives the curse.

[He sure hopes someone has been keeping record on every harvest so far.]

You wasn't afflicted with this curse before? Well, that's interesting. I wonder what you did differently this year.

That would be most ideal. Maybe with Doran's assistance we can figure out something about this curse. I know everyone is quite alarmed and justifiably angered by the sudden arrests but I rather focus on understanding the mystery around this sudden illness.

Likewise. Coughing up flowers is something of an oddity even in my world.

Unfortunately, yes. I’m one of the unlucky few.

As much as I like flowers, I don’t like having them scratching at my throat.

Hopefully, your love for flowers won’t dwindle. I own a flower boutique in town and I implore you to stop by whenever you’re feeling better.

I’ve been using my knowledge of flowers in hope of deciphering the meaning behind this sickness.

Indeed, I am. It's a talent of mine. One I fostered since my younger years. I'm not quite certain if I've been any help but I'm trying.

It's the same for you as well, isn't it? You have my gratitude for keeping us in the loop.

Of course! It would be my pleasure.

Let us hope this terrible malady passes soon. I've known many who've fallen ill as of late and the number only seems to rise.

You have my sincerest gratitude! I'll let you know if I need anything.
