@morpheus

How are you thinking of this place?

Do you think you're a prisoner of some sort of powerful magic or do you think you're dead? Or is it something else?

If it's death, were you close to dying when you then woke up here? Because I know I wasn't. I cannot die so if this is death, I have some questions.

I don't remember my own death, and I think this entire place is a set up.

Sure, the existence of the supernatural is both damnable evidence and totally annoying, but this place reflects too much of the living world to be a realm of judgement, rest, or punishment. For example, we still have to prove our moral worth when our prior lives should have provided open and shut cases. We're still living with physical bodies that get injured and catch diseases, we still have to earn money, we're still under the mercy of an authoritarian class. It's the same shit in a different pile, only with dumber hurdles.

Also they keep ripping off different parts of myth and literature. Someone is just slapping a bunch of mystical entities together ad hoc.

My bet is that it's a simulation, or if we're believing in truly stupid possibilities, an alternate universe.

It makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

What's more realistic? That we're all dead? That we've been whisked away to another reality?

Or someone uploaded our consciousness into a fake one? The technology to do it wasn't so far off where I'm from.

It's the easiest way to control the setting for one.

And I imagine they'd be able to mess with our data in all sorts of nasty ways.

That said, I can't say with certainty that it's the truth. It may explain the strangeness of this world, but in that case the outsider participants shouldn't be equally strange. What purpose does making someone imagine they're a Greek God serve?

Why wouldn't it be possible?

Though I agree, it's a ridiculous premise for anyone to believe. Something else has to be going on here.

[Stares at this]

Are you going to tell me you're another god?

[LOUD GROANING]

I may be a novelist but I'm dead sick of all these fantasy tropes.

Fine, what's an Endless?

So like a Yume no seirei? Or are you like Mare or Morpheus?

[Lit and myth nerds rise]

Can you prove it?

Because it sounds ridiculous.

People can say anything online. How am I supposed to take such a harebrained claim like that seriously?

If I told you I was Princess Kaguya and shot lightning bolts from my eyeballs, wouldn't you be the slightest bit suspicious?
