@morpheus

How are you thinking of this place?

Do you think you're a prisoner of some sort of powerful magic or do you think you're dead? Or is it something else?

If it's death, were you close to dying when you then woke up here? Because I know I wasn't. I cannot die so if this is death, I have some questions.

are we not all here just to die again? the concept of death feels meaningless at this point. i think the hierarchy has us here to do their bidding because they need our souls to keep the netherworld functioning. we are essentially prisoners, though they wouldn't have us think this way.

i might have been killed. i don't remember it happening, but it seems within reason for me. in any case, it feels underwhelming.

trying to get information out of the hierarchy has been challenging. but i have discovered a small handful of interesting facts, such as this place didn't always exist as there are no known natives of this land. amun's father was the first hierarch, so that particular establishment is painfully young as well. and clearly in discord.

a lot of people probably wanted to kill me, but there was only one that mattered. i fear he got his way. but really, the situation of this place is not so different from back home, so i feel altogether unchanged.

were you a prisoner before?

the question remains at large, though i wonder of the people that predate the hierarchy. they must have been formed in response to a lack of order and the impending calamity of oblivium. and why are we not permitted to travel to the far shores? there were ships that came from there, before. now it's either a hellscape where surely death awaits, or it's a possible alternative to here. maybe even a route to elsewhere. either way, it does not benefit the hierarchy to lose us, because then they lose souls. just food for thought. it behooves them to keep us in the dark.

a century? you predate the hierarchy on your own. who are you?

[ laurent of vere also means nothing to everyone here, so. relatable. ]

the names leads to the assumption that your life has no beginning or end. and you never heard of the netherworld prior to waking in it?

i see. the oldest members of the hierarchy were all related by blood or marriage as well.

and did you have control over a realm?

[ so no, then. ]

dreams and nightmares are not useful. share with me something that is, when you discover it. the hierarchy would like us to remain ignorant of our surroundings and focus only on acquiring a soulmate. i don't intend to do so and neither should anyone else.

i'm laurent.
