I've had this awful cough since I came back from the Shadowlands. At first I thought it was just me, but now I'm beginning to think something might be going around.

Has anyone found a remedy that helps?

Well, there is an illness going around. One that is quite...alarming, to say the least.

If you're looking for a way to soothe it, you might want to speak with Rosuv in Mirth. Apparently, the bartender has something that can ease the pain where hot tea cannot.

It depends on the stage of the illness but everyone infected starts coughing petals as the symptoms worsens. It’s because of this that some of our fellow Restless refer to this sickness as the “Hanahaki” virus.

Neither do I but it seems this illness goes by a second name as well, the Harvest's Curse.

No one seems to know much about it other than the symptoms and so far, there's no known cure.

It just allegedly...happens.

It's not a matter of "if" but rather "when".

I don't believe there's a way to halt the progression of this illness but many strive to do just that. Myself included.

In stories, curses always have a source. Someone who creates them or something that people do to get cursed.
Do you know why it started?

There’s no known origins behind this curse other than the harvest itself. This sudden illness is associated with the harvest but there’s not much in means of information about what causes it. 2 out of 6 harvests have ended with this sudden sickness, further prompting the idea that something went awry.

This is the third year that this sudden sickness has appeared. That means something must’ve happened during the harvest but I haven’t been able to find anything supporting that notion.

What happened to the people who contracted it over the past two harvests?

It's alleged that those who contracted this illness either succumbed to the symptoms or were miraculously healed.

Healed by what? That I cannot answer.

At first it was just the cough, but since I woke up, it's been hard to breathe.
It almost feels like there are needles in my lungs.

My attempts to self-heal haven't been effective. Whatever this is, it seems to be resistant to spiritual abilities. Things your people may call it magic.

When a Grisha uses their power, it's supposed to make us stronger, healthier. Not quite the same as what you described, but ...

Maybe it's because that power has been undependable since I woke up here. But it didn't seem to do anything for this, either.

There are those who'd call Grisha 'witches.'
We aren't. It's science, using the materials that are already there.
We just manipulate them in ways that otkazat'sya can't.
