[It's not a joke. Kainé wanted to die that day her grandmother was murdered by a Shade. And then things got worse when she became the very thing she hated! She tried to saw her arm off with a shard of broken glass.

But she needed Tyrann's power to get her revenge, and once she got it, she was ready to rest...

Until Nier convinced her to live, gave her a reason to keep on going. And now she was here, unable to fulfill that reason...

Her eyes do widen when Hibiki says she's glad it didn't work... Why would this stranger care about her? There's a long pause before she can send a reply.]

[ Maybe she said too much, like she always does. When she gets going, Hibiki finds it's hard to stop, and she ends up going too far. So when Kainé doesn't shoot back a response, she expects the worst. Ah, of course. She's the same dead as she was alive.

But after being told (lied to) that her mother jumped from their balcony, she can't just let someone say something like that and not speak up. To not say, genuinely, that she's glad that it hadn't worked for her. Even if she knows it's quite possibly the cruelest thing she could tell someone who desperately wanted it to.

So when she gets the notif, Hibiki nearly drops her phone as she grabs for it. Her reply comes a little slower than her usual rapid-fire texts. ]

because I mean it, even if I don't really know you yet
but I would like to get to know you, if that's ok

I think that everyone should have a chance to exist and be happy even a little bit
and acting on those dark thoughts means you might miss your chance, even if you think it'll never come

However, the spiel about everyone having a chance to exist brings a small smile to her face. It reminds her of when she first met Nier.He was young, so optimistic and considerate of all life. Everyone had a reason to live under his beliefs. It's what caused her to pledge her swords to his cause.

Things are different now, now that Yonah was taken by the Shadowlord. His hatred of Shades and the Shadowlord himself grew to where he would kill without question. Not that Kainé was any better. Her hatred of Shades knows no bounds.]
