well.... not in catholicism, at least. if you need to see god to believe in him then you're already going to hell. i'm not saying that's proof this is the afterlife or anything, just that not all gods are as present as you are

they talk about ascension and oblivium though. and it's hard not to notice that it sounds a lot like moving on to heaven/hell from purgatory
