Nice. I don't know, the former is really subjective. Some people see soulmates as companions that transcend "typical relationships," whatever that is.
Others just use the word as a stand-in for life partners, lovers, spouses...
As for what it means here, I just detach my conceptions and think of it as a completely foreign term. Sounds like it's a "contract" we Refugees need to form in order to "survive."
